Student-athlete academic eligibility for competition is tied to the number of semesters that the student-athlete is enrolled full-time.
Each student-athlete's academic record is reviewed to make sure that the following requirements have been satisfied:
Entering third semester (2nd year)
The student-athlete must:
- be in good academic standing within the university
- complete 6 hours (during previous semester)
- complete 18 hours (during previous two semesters)
- complete 24 hours (during previous year, summer school hours are allowed)
- have a Texas State GPA of at least 1.80
Entering fifth semester (3rd year)
The student-athlete must have declared a major and:
- be in good academic standing within the university
- complete 6 hours (during previous semester)
- complete 18 hours (during previous two semesters)
- complete 40% of declared major
- have a Texas State GPA of at least 1.90
Entering seventh semester (4th year)
The student-athlete must have declared a major and:
- be in good academic standing within the university
- complete *6 hours (during previous semester)
- complete *18 hours (during previous two semesters)
- complete 60% of declared major
- have a Texas State GPA of at least 2.00
Entering ninth semester (5th year)
The student-athlete must have declared a major and:
- be in good academic standing within the university
- complete *6 hours (during previous semester)
- complete *18 hours (during previous two semesters)
- complete 80% of declared major
- have a Texas State GPA of at least 2.00
*Beginning with the fifth semester, hours are acceptable only when they are applicable to the student-athlete's declared major.
