Third parties not affiliated with the University should email the TSUS Office of General Counsel to request student information. See Open Records for more information governing these requests. 

Due to FERPA privacy rules, student directory information will not be released until the 12th class day for long terms and the 4th class day for summer terms. For more information on what is considered directory information and other guidelines, visit our FERPA page.

 

Internal Request for Student Record Data

As an employee of Texas State University, you may have access to student educational records. Having access classifies you as a custodian of student education records under the Federal Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974 (FERPA) and extends to you the obligation to prevent the misuse of data, inadvertent disclosure of information and to ensure confidentiality. Access to student education records should be used solely to facilitate performance of legitimate job functions.

Requests for Student Record Data are intended for internal departmental use only. To submit an internal data request, complete a Student Data Request Form

If you need official statistics or information, you will need to contact the Office of Institutional Research. Requests for data or information for research or grant writing purposes should be directed to Research Records and Systems Services.
